PERTH FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES SECOND MARIANNE FAITHFULL CONCERT AT THE ASTOR
After overwhelming demand for Marianne Faithfull's concert at Beck's Music Box, Perth International Arts
Festival is delighted to announce a second concert, to be held at the Astor Theatre on 10 February, 2010. While
Faithfull's Beck's Music Box show has sold out, good tickets to all other Perth Festival shows are still available.
Marianne Faithfull has created an unrivalled legacy, fundamentally changing the status quo for women in
rock and roll. A mistress of reinvention and experimentation, she captivates audiences with her gritty vocals and
dominating stage presence. She is just one featured artist in a massive Festival music program.
Faithfull's new concert is the first to be held in the Astor as part of the Perth International Arts Festival.
Following this event, the Festival will present a specially curated season melding the best of contemporary live
music with compelling film at the Astor from 11 February.
Among the Astor shows are British Sea Power providing the live soundtrack to Robert J Flaherty's 1934
pseudo-documentary Man of Aran and 13 Most Beautiful ... Songs For Andy Warhol's Screen Tests,
featuring Dean & Britta's music accompanying short films shot by pop icon Warhol at The Factory in the
1960s.
Our 2010 music program is bookended by two special events. Antony and the Johnsons will delight opening
weekend audiences in two exquisite evenings of song with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and we close
the Festival with a magic night under the stars at Kings Park with Sing the Truth: The Music of Nina
Simone, performed by four of today's biggest soul and jazz stars, Patti Austin, Dianne Reeves, Nina' daughter
Simone and Lizz Wright, accompanied by Nina Simone's original band featuring Al Schackman.
